The LT500 Automatic Knife Grinding Machine is a high-precision solution for sharpening bevelled circular knives, counter-blades and circular cutting tools up to Ø500 mm. Using a tangential grinding wheel Ø250 mm or optional face grinding wheel Ø150 mm, the LT500 delivers stable, vibration-free grinding with exceptional surface finish and accuracy. Controlled via a Siemens PLC touch screen, it offers fully programmable automatic cycles, precise electronic handwheel feed and smooth linear movement on two motorised working axes — making it ideal for workshops that require reliable, repeatable and automated knife grinding performance.
“Engineered for precision, the LT500 delivers fully automated, vibration-free knife grinding with exceptional finish quality—every single cycle.”
Designed for versatility, the LT500 can grind chamfered circular knives, single counter-blades and multiple counter-blade sets with ease. Its automatic work cycle, programmable through the Siemens PLC interface, ensures consistent results across long production runs while reducing operator input and improving productivity. The machine’s electronic handwheel provides centesimal grinding-head feed for fine adjustments, enabling precision finishes on a wide range of knife geometries.
The LT500 comes standard with a 250 mm tangential grinding wheel, ideal for chamfered blades and bevel grinding. Workshops can also equip the machine with an optional 150 mm face grinding wheel, which is particularly effective for frontal grinding of counter-blades and circular knives requiring clean, accurate edges. This dual-wheel flexibility makes the LT500 suitable for industries using both bevelled and frontal cutting tools.
The machine’s automated functions are controlled via a Siemens touch-screen PLC, which features intuitive software, easy data entry and a user-friendly layout. Operators can program table rotation speeds from 3–35 rpm, set grinding-head angles from 0° to 90°, and invert grinding wheel rotation as required. These digital controls ensure accurate, repeatable results — whether you’re grinding a single knife or a full stack of counter-blades.
According to the manufacturer documentation, the LT500’s rigid base, heavy framework and optimised weight distribution allow for vibration-free grinding conditions, resulting in low roughness values and superior surface finishes. This solid construction increases wheel life, reduces blade chatter and ensures stable grinding performance even when machining workpieces more than 300 mm above the table surface.
The LT500 is built for demanding applications across:
Packaging machinery
Food processing equipment
Paper converting
Rubber and plastics cutting
Metal slitting and shearing
Industrial blade manufacturing
Workshops requiring automated, repeatable and fine-finish grinding will benefit most from the LT500’s capabilities.
