Precision circular grinding

MVM LA500 / LA700 Circular Blade & Disc Grinding

The MVM LA500 / LA700 is a specialist rotary table surface grinding machine designed for bevel grinding of circular knives and surface grinding of suitable discs, plates and flat workpieces. Its rigid construction, rotating and tilting grinding head, and automatic downfeed provide a practical solution for workshops that need repeatable circular grinding.

The LA500 accommodates bevelled circular blades up to Ø500 mm, while the LA700 extends standard blade and disc capacity to Ø700 mm. Both models combine circular knife grinding with surface-grinding capability, allowing the machine to be selected around the workpieces and finishing requirements of the workshop.

Grinding applications

Rotary Table Grinding for Circular Blades & Flat Workpieces

The LA500/LA700 combines two complementary grinding applications on one platform. Workholding, grinding-wheel selection and any optional equipment should be matched to the material and geometry of the workpiece.

Surface grinding

Circular Discs & Flat Workpieces

The rotary-table arrangement can be used for surface grinding suitable discs, plates, tools and other flat workpieces. MVM also identifies meat-mincing cutters and plates as applications for this type of machine.

Circular knife grinding

Bevelled Circular Blades

A rotating and tilting grinding head enables bevel grinding around the circumference of compatible circular knives and blades. The machine is suited to specialist circular-blade work rather than sharpening toothed saw blades.

Workholding & control

Mechanical & Magnetic Chuck Options

The mechanical rotary chuck supports circular grinding, while optional magnetic chucks and alternative configurations are available for suitable workpieces. Tuckwell can help identify the correct holding arrangement and grinding setup.

Frequently asked questions

LA500 / LA700 Rotary Table Grinder FAQs

Answers to common questions about the machine’s applications, capacity, standard equipment and optional configurations.

What is a rotary table surface grinding machine?

A rotary table surface grinding machine uses a rotating workholding table and grinding wheel to produce accurate surfaces on suitable workpieces. The MVM LA500/LA700 also has a rotating and tilting grinding head, allowing it to grind bevelled circular knives as well as discs and other suitable flat workpieces.

What is the difference between the LA500 and LA700?

The main difference is standard blade and disc diameter capacity. The LA500 supports bevelled circular blades up to Ø500 mm, while the LA700 extends standard capacity to Ø700 mm. Special columns are also available for larger disc-grinding applications.

Can the LA500/LA700 grind circular knives and flat discs?

Yes. MVM designed the LA500/LA700 for bevel grinding of compatible circular knives and blades, as well as surface grinding of suitable discs, plates and other workpieces. The correct workholding and grinding-wheel arrangement depends on the material and geometry.

Is the rotary table speed adjustable?

The standard machine has a fixed-speed mechanical rotating chuck. An electronic variable-speed system covering 3–35 rpm is available upon request. Tuckwell can help confirm whether that option is required for your grinding application.

What grinding motor and control options are available?

The standard grinding motor is 2.2 kW, with a 3.7 kW upgrade available upon request. The machine includes automatic grinding-wheel downfeed and a timer-controlled working cycle. PLC control with motorised wheel lifting and downfeed is also available as an option.

What information should I provide when requesting a quote?

Let Tuckwell know the workpiece type, diameter, thickness, material, bevel or surface-finish requirements and expected grinding volume. Details of your preferred workholding and any automation requirements will help the team recommend a suitable LA500/LA700 configuration.

Does Tuckwell provide installation, parts and servicing in Australia?

Yes. Tuckwell Machinery supplies and supports the machines it sells, with technician-backed advice, installation and operator training, spare-parts assistance and Australia-wide support. Contact the team to discuss the requirements of your workshop and location.
